Step into Christmas with a visit to a unique continental Christmas market

With comfort breaks along the way, we travel by coach and ferry to the quaint Dutch market town of Valkenburg.
Enjoy free time to explore the festivities in Valkenburg, known as the Christmas capital of the Netherlands, the little spa town comes alive with the advent of its Christmas markets. The main square transforms into a winter wonderland, home to a colossal singing Christmas tree, while the beautifully lit Municipal Caves house Europe's oldest and largest underground Christmas market uniquely located inside and so protected from the elements. Named the 'most ambient Christmas market in the Netherlands,' the Velvet Caves provide an atmospheric setting and decor, which are in harmony with the numerous stalls offering unique Christmas gifts and other luxuries.
After breakfast, we travel over the German border to the delightful spa city of Aachen. Experience the aura of this friendly city in its festive finery, with it's famous Christmas market, one of the largest and most beautiful in Germany, set in the square around the cathedral and the town hall, transforming it into a paradise of twinkling lights, seasonal colours and seductive aromas of local delicacies.
We return home, retracing our footsteps back through Europe.
