Catalonian Christmas & New Year Cheer

We continue our journey to Calella in Spain, arriving at our hotel for an eleven night stay where a welcome cocktail will be on hand to greet you! During our stay, wine and water will be served with dinner each evening alongside a 50% discount on all drinks and snacks each afternoon.

Explore the narrow, cobbled streets and medieval walls before our return journey takes us through to Lloret de Mar. A former fishing village, it's now one of the region's liveliest resorts, offering fantastic shopping options and numerous bars and restaurants nearby.

Experience Callela at your leisure today, which offers a fascinating blend of old and new; it's now a popular resort town, home to a bustling seafront promenade filled with colourful shops and long golden beaches. Alternatively, why not join us on an optional excursion to Montserrat? This rocky mountain range is home to the Santa Maria de Montserrat, a Benedictine monastery at the top of the mountain, and is Catalonia's most important religious retreat. Dating back to 1025, it remains home to one hundred monks and is a spiritual pilgrimage destination for many, offering breathtaking views and photo opportunities for all. Back at our hotel this evening, the Christmas festivities get into full swing as we enjoy a gala buffet dinner with Spanish sparkling wine included.

It's Christmas, so enjoy the next two days relaxing or exploring in the resort. With a special celebratory lunch on Christmas Day, served with Spanish sparkling wine, there will be no problem getting into the festive spirit! Callela is home to three big, beautiful beaches with sparkling waters, all within walking distance from our hotel. The Playa Grande is situated in front of the hotel and features the Beach Club of Hotel Volga, which is fully equipped with lounge chairs, bar, restaurant and entertainment; it's the perfect way to spend the festive season!

No holiday to Catalonia would be complete without a visit to beautiful Barcelona! Explore the bustling Las Ramblas, a lively boulevard filled with street performers, shops, and cafés or the historic Gothic Quarter, where you can wander through narrow medieval streets and hidden squares. Why not head to the Sagrada Familia, the emblem of Barcelona, the unfinished cathedral designed by architect Antoni Gaudí? This cosmopolitan seaside city is home to so much, you'll be spoilt for choice!

Today’s full-day excursion takes us first to the enchanting town of Figueres, birthplace and final resting place of the eccentric artist Salvador Dalí. Renowned for its scenic beauty, the town boasts a rich cultural heritage and a charming maze of narrow streets. You will also find picturesque squares and historic buildings. Later, we return via a visit to Pals, one of the most charming villages in the Costa Brava. Perched on a hilltop, Pals was built around a fortress and has kept its medieval look. Stroll through its beautifully preserved historical centre. Take in its authentic beauty and history, enjoying surprising details and architectural features, before returning to our hotel.

Enjoy more free time to soak up the Spanish winter sunshine whilst celebrating the arrival of the New Year, with a gala dinner on New Year’s Eve, including wine and cava to welcome in 2027.

Enjoy a relaxing day complete with a leisurely brunch served until 1pm, served with more cava to continue the celebrations!

We bid our Spanish hosts 'Hasta Luego' as we depart Spain before an overnight stop this evening.

We return home by road and ferry.
