Staying in Llandudno, escape the hustle and bustle as we weave through the stunning countryside onboard award-winning heritage railways, including the Ffestiniog Railway, Snowdon Mountain Railway and the Llanberis Lake Railway.
This holiday operates under our Optimum Experience brand.
With elegant space-maximising interior design, our Optimum Experience vehicle offers incredible passenger comfort with a selection of fine tours and destinations to choose from. Our Optimum holiday packages include a wide range of excursions, events and admissions, accommodation in a minimum 3* hotel (unless otherwise stated) and, on all our European Holidays, a Skills Representative too! Why not also book our door-to-door service and make your next holiday stress-free?
We travel to our hotel via a visit to Llangollen, home to stunning natural scenery and a rich history to explore.
Located on the Glaslyn Estuary, Porthmadog is our first destination today, a busy harbour town rich in maritime history and a significant hub for narrow-gauge railways with no less than three lines! Today, we have included a journey on the Ffestiniog Railway, the oldest independent railway company in the world, established in 1832. The historic train journey is over seven hundred feet from sea level and goes into the mountains through tranquil pastures, magnificent forests, lakes and waterfalls.
Developed as an upmarket seaside holiday town for its Edwardian and Victorian visitors, Llandudno is now Wales' most prominent resort. Uniquely situated between the Great and Little Ormes, enjoy a free day in this coastal destination, home to a magnificent promenade, tearooms, and shops.
Enjoy a return journey on the Snowdon Mountain Railway today, where you'll be rewarded with fantastic views of the surrounding scenery. At over one thousand feet, Mount Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales! This afternoon, we also enjoy a journey on the nearby Llanberis Lake Railway, a narrow-gauge railway that follows the stunning lake shores.
After checking out this morning, we will make the short journey to the Great Orme Tramway Museum. Having opened in 1902, the Great Orme Tramway is Britain's only cable-hauled public road tramway. After time to explore, we return home this afternoon.
The Somerset Hotel is an attractive seafront property with views of the pier and the Great Orme. This is the perfect spot for a traditional seaside break, conveniently located close to the town centre and with the beach on the doorstep.
