We travel north with a stop in Skipton, a rich market town boasting a castle and the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. This afternoon, we continue to our hotel in Kendal.

Our first day includes a tour of the northern Lake District from the comfort of our coach; sit back and relax as we travel to charming Ambleside, found on the northern shores of Lake Windermere. After free time to explore, we continue along Lake Thirlmere to Keswick, a popular market town, situated between the huge bulk of Skiddaw and the gentle beauty of Derwentwater. Our return journey takes us past immense rugged mountains, lakes and villages, the tranquil waters of Ullswater and over the magnificent Kirkstone Pass.

Our morning excursion takes us south through Newby Bridge towards the tranquil waters of Coniston Water. Here, we enjoy a memorable journey aboard a beautifully restored Victorian steam-powered yacht, now operated by the National Trust. Sit back and savour the charm of this historic vessel as you glide across the lake, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. We then return to our hotel via a scenic route along the shores of Lake Windermere, arriving in time to relax and enjoy the afternoon at leisure. Take advantage of the hotel's facilities or perhaps venture into nearby Kendal, a charming market town known as the southern gateway to the Lake District and famed for its traditional Mint Cake.

After a leisurely start to the day, we make our way to Bowness-on-Windermere for an afternoon visit; nestled on the fringes of England's largest and most impressive lake, why not board one of the stunningly scenic boat trips or visit the award-winning World of Beatrix Potter attraction, where you can relive childhood memories as the author's magical tales of Peter Rabbit and his friends are brought to life (admission to attractions are not included today)?

We return home today, driving through the scenic sights of the Peak District enroute.
