After today's departures, we travel to historic York, one of the UK's most festive cities, with free time to explore the Christmas Markets, shops or famous sights, guaranteed to get you in the festive spirit. From here, we continue to our hotel in Whitby, with a theme of festive fun running throughout our stay.
We enjoy a scenic journey exploring the winter wonderland of the North Yorkshire Moors today. Travelling via Danby and Rosedale Abbey, we visit Pickering with free time to explore. This thriving, vibrant market town is packed with exciting things, with the tea rooms and shops having a glorious vintage flavour and coming alive with festive merriment around Christmas.
Enjoy free time in Whitby, a much-loved seaside town! Famous for its literary connections with Bram Stoker and Dracula, Whitby Abbey stands above the harbour and provides fantastic views of the town below. If you're looking for maritime history, you'll find the Captain Cook Memorial Museum in the seventeenth-century harbourside house where he served his apprenticeship. Don't forget to enjoy some fish and chips or track down classic Whitby Jet for a beautiful Christmas present!
Today we include a truly magical visit to Castle Howard at Christmas. Experience the magnificent decorations as you journey through the House’s grand state rooms. Open fires, candle light and live music evoke all that we love about this special time of year, with the iconic 25 foot Christmas tree adorned with over 3000 baubles providing a breath-taking highlight in the Great Hall.
We begin our homeward journey after breakfast via a stop in the county town of Beverley, with its’ cobbled streets and quaint boutiques all decked in Christmas goodies and decorations, renowned for its exquisite 13th Century Minster, before continuing to arrive back early evening.
From a stunning clifftop location, enjoy amazing views on all sides of the beaches, harbour, old town, abbey ruins, and headland. With Yorkshire-style hospitality, all rooms come with ensuite bathrooms.
