We continue through France and across the border into Italy, arriving in Riva del Garda this afternoon. Upon arrival, enjoy a welcome drink before our evening meal.
Our first day will see us enjoy a leisurely morning before travelling along Lake Garda to Limone via boat. Once renowned for growing lemons and now limoncello, hence the name, enjoy a visit to the heart of the old town and the harbour. From here, explore narrow lanes lined with shops, waterfront terraces and plenty of places to eat.
Join us for a full-day excursion through the ancient Tenno Valley, where we pass medieval villages and lush pastures on our way to the stunning Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We'll visit the charming village of Madonna di Campiglio, known for its cobblestone streets, rustic architecture, and vibrant flower boxes. Next, we'll travel through Cles to Molveno, a picturesque Alpine town featuring a beautiful thirteenth-century church set against a turquoise lake, reflecting the surrounding mountain peaks.
After breakfast, we travel to the medieval city of Verona, the forever home to Romeo and Juliet. Spend your day exploring the remarkable sights, including the legendary balcony, the magnificent Piazza Bra and its incredible Roman amphitheatre or enjoy a little shopping in the Via Mazzini. This World Heritage site is a wonderful place to explore thousands of years of history.
Discover the resort of beautiful Riva del Garda in your free time today. A bustling town located at the northern point of Lake Garda and flanked by mountains, Riva del Garda is a charming place to relax with a lakeside harbour, park, and beach. You may like to take the opportunity to jump aboard another boat trip to Malescine today, an attractive town with a harbour and thirteenth-century castle in the shadow of Monte Baldo (not included). Alternatively, join us for an optional excursion to ancient Venice? Known as the City of Water, our day includes a walking tour with a local guide and boat transfers into the city. Explore the incredible architecture and history by visiting the splendid Piazza San Marco, the world-renowned Grand Canal thoroughfare, the Bridge of Sighs and the Palace of the Doges.
Today, we explore the western shores of Lake Garda; our destinations include Bardolino, best known for its wines made from locally grown grapes. We also visit Sirmione, a beautifully preserved town with an imposing turreted castle. This maze of narrow, cobbled streets built on a peninsula makes it a popular place for celebrities to live. A traditional farewell dinner will be served at the hotel this evening.
We return through France and to our overnight hotel.
We continue back to the Channel port for the ferry back to the UK where we retrace our footsteps home.
