Today, we travel to the Isle of Wight, first by road and then by ferry.<br />
Our first visit is to Godshill, one of the island's most picturesque villages, home to thatched cottages and a model village. Today's second destination is the bustling resort town of Ryde, where traditional beachfront fun, pier, and promenade meet unique independent shopping and eateries. <br />
After breakfast today, we enjoy a free day to experience everything Shanklin offers. Found overlooking the English Channel, you can explore the quaint Old Village, containing some of the island's oldest thatched dwellings, or venture further, taking a leisurely walk through Shanklin Chine, a picturesque gorge that will enchant you with its natural beauty and cascading waterfalls; this tranquil oasis is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts.
Our final excursion includes visiting Carisbrooke Castle, a former artillery fortress, the prison of King Charles I and a summer royal residence. Immerse yourself into the history and rich heritage and discover King Charles's bowling green, the tranquil Princess Beatrice Garden and the famous Carisbrooke donkeys. We also enjoy visiting Newport, the island's historic capital. Home to the Museum of Island History, you may also wish to explore the boutique shops and cafes that call Newport home.
